Sean P. Colgan, Ph.D., Joel Levine-Fred Kern, Jr. Professor of Medicine and Immunology at the University of Colorado and Vice Chairman of the Department of Medicine
Dr. Colgan is the Joel Levine-Fred Kern, Jr. Professor of Medicine and Immunology at the University of Colorado and Vice Chairman of the Department of Medicine. He was recruited to UCD in 2006 after 12 years on faculty at Harvard Medical School where he was Professor and Associate Director of the Center for Experimental Therapeutics. Dr. Colgan has a multi-RO1-funded basic laboratory that founded on the identification of novel anti-inflammatory molecules associated with mucosal inflammation. He has published more than 200 papers and book chapters, many in top tier journals. He has served as an Associate Editor for a number of journals and has served a number of peer-review roles for the NIH. He is the previous chairman of multiple study sections for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation (CCFA) as well as other foundations in America, Europe and Canada. Dr. Colgan has trained more than 40 MD or PhD fellows from throughout the world, many of whom remain actively engaged in academic research.
