Dr. Galiègue-Zouitina received her PhD in physics-chemistry from Lille University of Science and Technology, France. She is an Inserm Senior Scientist currently working at Inserm Unit UMR-S 1172 in Lille, JPA Research Center and Institut pour la Recherche sur le Cancer de Lille. Between 1978 and 1989 Dr. Galiègue-Zouitina published landmark discoveries in the field of chemical carcinogenesis. Since 1989 she has been at the forefront of elucidating the means by which chromosomal abnormalities and gene deregulation drive the pathogenesis of hematopoietic malignancies. In 1995 her research team was the first to discover the intracellular signaling molecule RhoH and determine its role in leukemogenesis. Between 2000 and 2015 Dr. Galiègue-Zouitina was a member of the Doctoral School of the Lille University North of France where she served as a supervisor, thesis committee member and mentor to masters and doctoral students. Currently, her research group focuses on determining the molecular mechanisms by which leukemic cells lay dormant, the molecular functions of RhoH and the development of new leukemia therapeutics.
