Philip Schumacher, Former Executive Director, Gundersen Medical Foundation
Philip Schumacher is the retired executive director of Gundersen Medical Foundation. The Foundation is responsible for the medical and health education, clinical and basic research and community outreach of Gundersen Health System. Gundersen has been a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital since 1986. In addition to his leadership role, Schumacher has extensive experience with major and planned gifts. Phil held his position from May, 1993 to July, 2015.
He is the current chair of CFRE International and has served on the organization’s executive, expansion and marketing and exam committees. He has held the CFRE credential since 1993 and was awarded the ACFRE in 2009. Schumacher is active with the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). He served two terms on the board of AFP and is the past Vice Chair of Member Services and Treasurer of the Association. He taught in the Master of Philanthropy and Development program at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. He also is a member of the board of the Minnesota Marine Art Museum and chairs its development committee. He has been in the field of philanthropy for 30 years.
